In September 1976, the Domtar plant in Huntsville officially opened, marking a pivotal moment in the town’s industrial development. The facility not only created numerous jobs for the residents but also signalled an important step in the evolution of the area’s economy. Over the years, the plant underwent several expansions and modernizations, enhancing its production capacity and efficiency. These upgrades enabled Domtar to strengthen its operations and continue serving a growing market for its products.
In 1995, Domtar made the strategic decision to sell the Huntsville plant to Panolam Industries, marking a significant transition. This shift in ownership brought new opportunities and a renewed focus for the facility, as Panolam sought to leverage the plant’s capabilities to advance its manufacturing objectives.
Fast-forwarding nearly three decades to 2024, another noteworthy change occurred when Panolam sold the Huntsville plant to Daiken North America LTD. This acquisition marks yet another chapter in the facility's evolving history, with Daiken committed to expanding the plant's production capacity and strengthening its market position. The transition reflects a continued dedication to high-quality decorative surfaces across North America, ensuring the Huntsville plant remains an integral part of the region’s industrial landscape.
